Ray joined Bible Insurance Agency, Inc. upon graduation from the University of Tennessee with a BS in Insurance and Real Estate in 1960. He received Certified Insurance Counselor Designation in 1982 and served on Insurance Company Advisory Boards of General Accident Insurance Company, Transamerica Insurance Company, and St Paul Insurance Company, serving as Council Chairman in 1988.
He is a past President of Girls, Inc and managed their Horse Show for more than 20 years. In 1988 Ray was awarded the "Della Jeffers Medlin Special Friend Award". In 2000 he was awarded the United Way "Joe Q. Dougherty" Volunteer of the Year Award.
He is a Trustee of Walters State Community College Foundation and served as Foundation President in 2007 - 2008.
He has been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Morristown since 1960 and a George F. Hixson Fellow since 1999.
Ray and his wife of more than 50 years are members of First Presbyterian Church where he has served as elder and Church Treasurer. They have three children, one of which is a third generation owner of Bible Insurance Agency which was founded by R.H. Bible, Sr. in 1931.
The entire Bible family was recognized by the American Saddlebred Horse Association Board of Directors at its 2010 Convention for their contributions as a family to the Saddlebred Horse Industry. Five other families in the United States have received this award.
